RAKTA - Intense and immersive postpunk/psych/goth from a group of Brazilian women on a double-header tour with DEAFKIDS (see below). Rakta played Cardiff in autumn 2017 and fried the skulls of those who caught their relentless rhythmic deathgrooves… and now they’re coming back! Several years’ worth of releases on labels like LA VIDA ES UN MUS, IRON LUNG, NADA NADA DISCOS: treat yourself here on Rakta’s Bandcamp

DEAF KIDS - Blistering experimental hardcore machine from São Paulo, Brazil who started in 2010 as a solo D-beat project but have since become a band and explored wider and weirder territory. ‘Configuração do Lamento’, a 2016 cassette, was re-released the following year on NEUROT (Steve Von Till of Neurosis’ label) and gained a global audience for its combo of metallic raw punk and swirling psychedelic noise. Visit Deaf Kids’ Bandcamp.

Artefact - Exceedingly rare show (last in Cardiff on Halloween being an Abba covers band) by these elegant specimens whose bodies are in England but whose souls are in Wales. The best gothic punk in the whole landmass, but you should already know that! If not? Luxuriate in their 2017 LP ‘Votive Offering’ on Artefact’s Bandcamp
