MARI MATHIAS plays indie folk and is based in Cardiff - she grew up in the rural village of Talgarreg, just a stone's throw away from the Ceredigion coastline. She sings in her native Welsh tongue and puts her own contemporary take on traditional folk melodies. Over recent years Mari has supported acts such as GRUFF RHYS, MEIC STEVENS and PLU. She has performed everywhere from St Fagan’s Museum to Hub Fest, Immersed, Clwb Ifor Bach, Swansea Fringe and The Big Cwtch. She released her EP 'Ysbryd y tr' in March 2020, produced by Mei Gwynedd.
Mari is now performing with an exciting ensemble of young folk musicians with her new material. Her debut album 'Annwn' includes storytelling through cinematic soundscapes, folk tales, field recordings and samples of her great-grandfathers' cassette tapes. "Absolutely jaw dropping.
